Integrating AWS Elemental Dynamic Multiview with TrackFlix

Live sports and events increasingly give viewers access to multiple camera angles from a single production, or several concurrent games, within one viewing experience. Delivering these experiences traditionally requires separate compositing and encoding workflows for each viewing configuration, increasing infrastructure complexity and making it difficult to scale across the many combinations that viewers may want.

Multiview Experiences with AWS Elemental Multiview

To address this challenge, TrackIt integrated AWS Elemental Dynamic Multiview with TrackFlix as part of AWS's private beta, enabling dynamic composition of multiple live video feeds into a single adaptive bitrate stream. Multiview allows streaming platforms to create multi-view experiences on demand, supporting use cases such as multi-angle sports coverage, simultaneous game viewing, geo-personalized broadcasts, and picture-in-picture experiences.

Unlike server-side compositing in the uncompressed domain, which requires decoding and re-encoding each combination of source feeds, Multiview performs composition in the compressed domain. Each source feed is encoded once by AWS Elemental MediaLive and delivered through CMAF ingest to AWS Elemental MediaPackage V2, which assembles the requested combinations on demand. This avoids the need to decode and re-encode every possible combination of feeds, helping simplify the underlying media workflow.

The resulting multi-view stream can be delivered using standard HLS, with DASH targeted for general availability. At GA, the service will support H.264 and HEVC video, while the current private beta is limited to H.264. Playback does not require a custom player and can use standard playback technologies.

Multiview supports configurations ranging from two to four views across six layouts: equal-view grids and layouts featuring a larger primary view alongside secondary feeds. For sports and live events, this can enable experiences such as combining multiple camera angles from the same event or presenting several independent games within a single viewing experience.

Adding MultiView to TrackFlix

The TrackFlix integration connects the MultiView workflow across the live video pipeline. Each source is processed through a MediaLive channel with MultiView renditions and delivered via CMAF to a MediaPackage V2 channel group. When a viewing experience is requested, MediaPackage composes the selected feeds on demand based on a manifest query parameter, with Amazon CloudFront providing delivery in front of the MediaPackage origin.

By integrating the capability into TrackFlix, TrackIt provides a practical way to demonstrate how compressed-domain multi-view composition can fit into a cloud-native live media workflow without requiring a separate compositing architecture for every viewing configuration.

TrackIt will showcase the TrackFlix MultiView integration in a live demonstration at IBC 2026, highlighting potential applications for multi-angle sports and other live media experiences.
