From Cloudflare to CloudFront with AWS WAF: Wallbox CDN Migration

Challenge

Wallbox, a global provider of smart EV charging solutions, engaged TrackIt in partnership with AWS to migrate its CDN footprint from Cloudflare to Amazon CloudFront. The effort required deep expertise in CDN architecture, edge behavior, routing logic, security rules, and multi-region traffic patterns. Wallbox needed a team capable of auditing the existing configuration, designing a CloudFront architecture that met all functional requirements, and carrying out the migration with precision while maintaining service availability.

Implementation

TrackIt conducted a full technical discovery to analyze Cloudflare configurations, traffic profiles, API requirements, and security controls. New CloudFront distributions were deployed and tuned for caching, routing, and performance. AWS WAF (Web Application Firewall) was introduced to provide a unified security layer with standardized rules and improved protection for API and application endpoints.

TrackIt executed the migration through a phased domain cutover that validated performance, confirmed rule behavior, and ensured a controlled transition across regions. TrackIt coordinated closely with AWS to carry out the rollout in alignment with Wallbox’s technical requirements.

Outcome

Wallbox successfully transitioned from Cloudflare to Amazon CloudFront with stable performance and secure traffic handling across all regions. The new architecture provides a scalable, AWS-native delivery layer with standardized WAF protections and validated CloudFront distributions. The migration met the established technical success criteria and prepared Wallbox for future enhancements of its global delivery performance.
